Today Microsoft announced that the new SharePoint mobile app for iOS is available today in the App Store.
Remember the Future of SharePoint event? 4th May seem to be quite a while back. Since then we have had The new site contents, the new document library and now finally the new SharePoint mobile app!
Microsoftare also working on Android and Windows versions, which are expected to be released before the end of this year.
Install the SharePoint mobile app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod. Hey, what is that????
I have always used a Windows Phone as I tried to support Microsoft in their efforts in making the best phone platform the biggest platform and now the app is first released on iOS.
There are a lot of strange things I can accept like:
- The Dutch football (this is what you call soccer in America!) team not making it into the Euro 2016 tournament
- A small percentage of world population deciding there is going to be a BrExit or not.
- A new Harry Potter film where the characters have gone through a complete metamorphoses
But a Microsoft App first released on Apple platforms??? The world has gone mad!
Your intranet in your pocket—the SharePoint mobile app for iOS is now available
That’s normal, Pieter. iOS is the largest audience nowadays.
Hi Dimitar,
I understand that iOS is the bigger platform. At the same time I do find it surprising that Microsoft publish their mobile apps first on the Apple platform.
I have recently given up and swapped my venerable Lumia 1520 for a Nexus 6, after not being able to use certain apps for work (RSA SecurID app is broken, OpsGenie, something else that I’ve forgotten). It’s worse, but there are a lot of apps and the apps are of higher quality. Did I mention the apps? They can distract me from the worse photos, battery life, UI, app and system crashes, etc. :-/
There are over 80 Microsoft apps already on Android, but not Cortana in the UK yet, that is the only real gap. Also in general they are more buggy than the equivalent WP apps, for now at least.
