SharePoint 2016
SharePoint 2016 has a few new key board short cuts. Previous versions of SharePoint already had some as well but now the options have been extended
Document libraries
- Alt + N – New
- Alt + E – Edit
- Alt + U – Upload
- Alt + M – Manage
- Alt + S – Share
- Alt + Y – Synchronization
SharePoint 2013/2010/2007
In SharePoint 2013/2010/2007 there used to be quite a few keyboard short cuts. Some of them may still work in SharePoint 2016.
Ribbon
- TAB – to get to the desired tab
- TAB, SHIFT+TAB – Move the focus to each command on the Ribbon, forward or backward respectively.
- LEFT ARROW, RIGHT ARROW – Move left or right to another tab of the Ribbon, respectively.
- ENTER – Display the shortcut menu for the selected command.
- DOWN ARROW, UP ARROW, LEFT ARROW, RIGHT ARROW – Move down, up, left, or right among the items on the Ribbon, respectively.
- SPACE BAR or ENTER – Activate the selected command or control on the Ribbon.
- SPACE BAR or ENTER – Open the selected menu or gallery on the Ribbon.
- ENTER – Activate a command or control on the Ribbon so you can modify a value.
- ENTER – Finish modifying a value in a control on the Ribbon, and move the focus back to the document.
In General Pages
TAB – Turn More Accessible Mode on or off. More Accessible Mode changes the way content is rendered on a site, optimizing it for assistive technologies such as screen readers. TAB (Press repeatedly, immediately after opening the page in a browser.)
- ALT+X – Activate or place focus on the Skip to main content link.
- ALT+Y – Activate or place focus on the Skip Ribbon Commands link.
- ALT+3 – Activate or place focus on the View All Site Content link.
- ALT+/ – Activate or place focus on the Site Actions menu.
- ALT+S – Activate or place focus on the Search box. Placing focus on the Search box requires the ribbon to have the active focus (press ALT+/ to place focus on the Site Actions menu, and then press TAB repeatedly until the focus is placed on the Browse tab).
- ALT+6 – Activate or place focus on the Help link.
- ALT+1 – Activate or place focus on the Home link.
- ALT+W – Activate or place focus on the Your Name menu. Press ALT+W multiple times to toggle between the Your Name menu and any Web Parts on the page.
- SHIFT+ENTER – Expand menus such as the drop-down menu for a list item.
- ALT+DOWN ARROW – Expand drop down lists such as the Search Scope menu next to the Search box at the top of some pages.
- ALT+W – Move the selection from Web Part to Web Part on pages that use multiple Web Parts
Rich Text Editing
In rich text editors in SharePoint a lot of the keyboard short cuts used byu application like Word and Excel can also be used.
- CTRL+SHIFT+< – Activate or place focus on the Right-to-Left text direction button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+> – Activate or place focus on the Left-to-Right text direction button.
- CTRL+B – Activate or place focus on the Bold button.
- CTRL+C – Activate or place focus on the Copy button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+C – Activate or place focus on the Text color button.
- CTRL+E – Activate or place focus on the Center button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+E – Activate or place focus on the Numbered List button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+F – Activate or place focus on the Font menu.
- CTRL+I – Activate or place focus on the Italics button.
- CTRL+L – Activate or place focus on the Align Left button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+L – Activate or place focus on the Bulleted List button.
- CTRL+M – Activate or place focus on the Increase Indent button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+M – Activate or place focus on the Decrease Indent button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+P – Activate or place focus on the Font Size menu.
- CTRL+R – Activate or place focus on the Align Right button.
- CTRL+U – Activate or place focus on the Underline button.
- CTRL+V – Activate or place focus on the Paste button.
- CTRL+SHIFT+W – Activate or place focus on the Background Color menu.
- CTRL+X – Activate or place focus on the Cut button.
People Picker
- Ctrl-K – Attempts to resolve the username
