Microsoft Teams Education – How to keep your students quiet?

Within the educational version of Microsoft Teams there is an option available to Mute students. With this option you can keep your students quiet within a team. In my tenant I created a Student user and I had a look at what muting student does, other than upsetting the student of course!

Within the Team members management section of the team there is a tick box available to mute a specific student within that team.

Before you tick that box it is possible for the student to be involved in conversations:

But once muted, all these options disappear.

Other than muting misbehaving students there might quite well be other nice applications for this. Imagine if you had a team where you would like to inform students, however you don’t want to have long conversations with students then you could use the mute option for all students within a specific team.
