Today I found an issue with the Community sites in SharePoint. When I click on the Members link  within the community site I’m getting a helpful message

Sorry, something went wrong

An unexpected error has occurred



I found out that this only happened for users that had joined the community.

Then I went to the web part maintenance page as suggested in the above error message and I removed one web part at the time and I found that the My membership web part isn’t working and causing the page failing to load.

So I closed the My membership webpart and the page now loads fine.


Quite quickly I found Patrick O’Toole‘s article. So this web part isn’t supported in Office 365. But it is still part of the community site template and the web part is still available in the web part gallery.

Patrick’s article was written in 2013 and still things haven’t been cleaned up.
